What is the price?

Calls to 1234 are charged a fee of $1.99. Standard mobile rates also apply. A connection fee of $1.29 cents applies to successful and attempted connection to the number requested. Standard rates apply to the connected call. Or you can have most information sent to your mobile phone by SMS text at no extra charge.

Do I need to be a Telstra customer?

You need to be a full service Telstra residential or business customer or Telstra mobile customer to directly access the 1234 service.

However, you can access Telstra Directory Assistance on 1223 or Call Connect on 12456 even if you are not a Telstra customer. If you're billed by someone other than Telstra, your access to these services and prices for these services may be different. So please contact them for information.

Who do I call if I just need a number?

1234 can give you more than one listing at a time, you will always speak to an operator and they can help you find the details for a business type if you are not sure exactly which one you want. If you don't mind an automated service you could call Directory Assistance on 1223. If you would prefer to talk to an operator you can try Call Connect on 12456. Both 1223 and Call Connect 12456 will only be able to give you one listing.

I understand the 1234 price is $1.99 and connection requests are a further $1.29 cents, but what are the mobile phone charges that also apply?

Telstra mobile customers pay their standard connection fee on connection to the 1234 operator and their standard air-time charges for the time spent with the operator. If they choose to be connected to a number they will also be charged their standard connection fee and air-time charges as if they are making a new call. Mobile callers should refer to their mobile plan for information regarding their connection and air-time rates.

How have the 1234 call charges changed on the Telstra bill?

All 1234 charges are now displayed under the heading 'Calls to Sensis'. This section includes itemised charges for each call to the 1234 or Call Connect service. Call charges remain as part of the local, STD or 13 number calls and are listed and charged within the Telstra bill just as if the customer had dialled the number themselves.

Is there a limit to the amount of information that can be given out on 1234?

Yes. In order to maintain an efficient service for all consumers, we have put in place a Fair and Reasonable Use Policy on 1234. A maximum of three listing referrals will be allowed for consumers that dial 1234. What movie information can I obtain through 1234?

Movie information includes session times, cinemas, descriptions, running times, main cast, director and genre information. Callers can have the information read out to them over the phone or sent via SMS to their mobile. (e.g. Can I have the movie times for "Wallace and Gromit" at Hoyts - Chadstone for Friday?)

What weather information can I obtain through 1234?

Weather information includes reports (ie. general weather, ski, surf, marine and weather warnings), weather districts and time periods (current forecast, four day forecast, seven day forecast for metropolitan areas). (eg. Can I have a four day forecast for Hayman Island?)

What sports results can I get?

1234 will deliver sports results, fixture and ladder information for a range of sports including:

How much will it cost to get this information from 1234?

Is the customer charged if the information is incorrect or unavailable?

The customer is charged for the call to 1234. Obviously information is subject to change so our content is updated frequently to ensure that we have the most accurate information available.

How will I be billed for information enquiries?

All calls are $1.99 regardless of what content is requested. The charges will be grouped under the 'Calls to Sensis' biller heading on the Telstra bill.

Can 1234 provide information about tickets and bookings?

No. Currently movie information is provided without a transaction process, however 1234 can provide call connection to the cinema for which information is being requested for.

Can the information be sent to me via SMS?

Yes. Most information can be provided verbally or sent via SMS to your mobile phone.

Will the information service for movies, weather and other content be available during the holiday periods?

Yes. 1234 provides all content information 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
